HOW TO POST ON THIS SITE

Dear Showcase Hawaii: I want to post some photos and talk stories. How can I accomplish this? -- PoiBallDisaster

Dear PoiBallDisaster: Were you the one who hit my head with your poi ball whilst we danced at the Wilk when Pres. Kimball came to watch our show and my wig nearly fell off my head? Anyhow, I forgive you. Please feel encouraged to post photos or blogs on this site. To do so, you just post a comment below (click on the link "comment") to get the user name and password. Let's talk stories! It's so easy. And besides, life's too short.

More Baby News....from the FAUXES

GOOD NEWS: Christie de Rama-Faux will soon be a grandmother for the first time. #2 son, Leland and his beautiful wife, Catherine, are awaiting the August 28 birth of their daughter----well, give or take a couple of weeks, of course, just in time to celebrate their first anniversary which is on August 13. They are so thrilled and happy. They live in Wymount Terrace just like we did when Kurt was in law school. Leland is on partial scholarship at the Y majoring in Economics. Catherine is an English major also at the Y. She is from Salem, Utah---and Karen Boothe, Steve's wife, was her YW leader! What a small world! Needless to say, we are all excited for the big day. What will the beautiful baby call her glamorous glam-ma? Why, Lola, of course! (Lola means grandmother in Tagalog....pretty ain't it?)

Update: Lucy will call her grandma "mimi". Yeah!

Aloha!

In 1974, my parents, who worked for the Marcos regime and liaised for the church, gave me the task of arranging the venue for a performing group from BYU-Hawaii. I was then a freshman at the University of the Philippines and luckily, able to arrange for them to use the university's theatre for a night---and oh, what a night it was! To see a group of wholesome, happy young people who seemed so carefree, confident and talented was a huge inspiration to me. Within a few months, I would find myself in Laie, Hawaii and knocking at Randy Boothe's door, eager to audition to be part of this unbelievable group. I remember drumming up all the courage my spirit would allow me, to even ask. Luckily, I had my trump card with me: my beloved Yamaha G-60 classic guitar.

Steve Boothe was assigned the task of "checking out" my guitar-playing abilities. In due time, I was teaching him a few of my tricky guitar licks. Aloooooooooooha!

It's been over 30 years since then and I no longer play the guitar with the same boldness and dexterity---but hey---I can bake bread and do wonders with a hot glue gun. Well....ok, I've given those up a good two decades ago as well. I am just not cut out for that sort of thing. But ask me to get nostalgic and I go for the gusto! Every single Showcase Hawaii member has touched my life in incredible ways. For these gifts, I am profoundly grateful. More than anything, being a part of Showcase Hawaii gave me the clarity of vision I needed to believe in happy everafterings. Eternal families. Eternal ties. Eternal companion. I believed in the vision. I am now living that vision. Happily. Joyously.

In putting up this site, my hope is that members can have a place to "talk stories" and "hang-out" albeit virtually. I invite all to participate, reminisce and renew friendships. Life's just too short. And well, it's just time.
